In response to requests for networking and accountability opportunities, we have added a new NE DPG benefit – The Peer-to-Peer Mastermind Program. This Program has been designed to offer a unique opportunity for NE DPG members to connect, discuss topics of interest related to their business aspirations, and brainstorm ideas to overcome barriers to continued success.
Though there are varying definitions of mastermind programs, they are generally understood as peer-to-peer networking groups with the goals of brainstorming ideas, solving problems, creating accountability, and establishing relationships. Masterminds can be very structured or informal in nature, depending on the group’s needs.
NE DPG will host mastermind virtual sessions every other month, so keep a lookout for e-blast announcements in your inbox or here on the nedpg.org Mastermind Page.
Over the last year, we have had lots of participation and feedback from attendees to improve this offering. After reviewing this feedback and discussing potential changes to the Program, we will be implementing some important updates starting in April 2024.
At the beginning of each session, the Director of Mentor Services will welcome attendees and give a brief overview of what to expect. We will emphasize that the session is a peer-to-peer opportunity to network, share business wins/challenges, and brainstorm solutions/resource share. We will then randomly assign breakout groups of 5-8 people/group. In an effort to truly make the session peer-to-peer, we will not be having moderators lead groups.
Since members have expressed their desire for consistency between members of their groups, we will not have members choose specific topics to discuss in their groups. We will assign group names so that members can join the same group each time (or choose a different group if desired).
We will not limit the direction of conversations; however, participants have expressed that some prompts are helpful to get the conversation going. These include (but are not limited to):
Many people have expressed that introductions often take the majority of the time in the session, so we want to encourage participants to have a 1-minute “elevator speech” to describe their business or put it in the chat so that everyone can dive right into the discussion.
All attendees will reconvene as a large group at 5 minutes until the top of the hour to allow time for questions.
If attendees want to follow-up with members of their group, we suggest that you share your contact info in the chat during your breakout session. NE would like to empower members to continue the conversation outside of our scheduled sessions in the format that works best for you- video chat, text, email, etc, however, we will not be able to coordinate this communication outside of NE scheduled events.
The feedback on the Peer-to-Peer Mastermind Program has been positive and members are enjoying this benefit. The changes that we are making are so that we can continue providing a Program that meets the needs of our members and works well for all involved. Please let us know if you have any questions or further suggestions!
